How to block pop up ads on all browsers

Pop-up ads more commonly known as pop-ups are  forms of online advertising which generally open a new web browser windows to display advertisements. The pop-ups are usually generated using the JavaScript and sometime using Adobe Flash. A hybrid of pop-up advertisement is pop-under advertisement which open the advertise under the current active window. Pop-under are hard to notice until the browser is closed. Sometime pop-ups contains important messages, but mostly they are annoying advertisement. Even worst in some cases they could be installer which silently install malware in your computer.
Nearly every browser now a days have a decent pop-up blocking functionality and a large number of plug-in and software are available to increase this functionality even further. In this post I will explain how you can block the pop-up ads in Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Internet Explorer and Safari.

How to block pop-ups on Chrome


1. Open up the Settings from the menu present on the top right corner in chrome.

2. Type pop-ups inside the search box. The Privacy setting will appear, open up the Content Setting... quite easy to notice with a yellow arrow box near it saying pop-ups.

3. Scroll down in Content settings to Pop-ups (6th option) and select the radio button Do not allow any site to show pop-ups (recommended).

4. You can use the Manage exceptions.. option of Pop-ups if you want to allow some sites and block the other. If you want to allow all the sites to show pop-ups you can select  Allow all sites to show pop-ups.

How to block pop-ups on Firefox


1. Open up the options from the menu present on the top right corner in Firefox.

2.In Options go to Content and tick the box present near Block pop-up windows. You can use Exceptions... to add websites whose pop-ups you don't want to block.

How to block pop-ups on Internet Explorer

1. Select Tools from the top right corner in Internet Explorer and go to Pop-up Blocker(3rd one usually)  and select the Pop-up Blocker Settings.


2. From the drop down list of Blocking level select High: Block all pop-ups. Add the address of website whose pop-ups you don't want to block in Address of website to allow:


How to block pop-ups on Safari

1. Open Setting Menu from the top right corner in Safari and select the option Preferences.

2. After opening up Preferences go to Security and check the option Block pop-up windows. To enable pop-ups just uncheck this option.

How to block pop-ups on Opera

1. Open up the Setting either by pressing Alt+p or by selecting Setting from Opera Menu present at the top right corner with opera logo and name.


2. In the search box of Setting type pop-ups and select the second option Do not allow any site to show pop-ups (recommended). Add the url of website whose pop-ups that you don't want to block in Manage exceptions...

Private Browsing is a quite awesome feature which is now a days is found in every popular browser. Some browser uses different name for private browser, it is known by incognito mode in Chrome and by InPrivate Browsing in Internet Explorer. In this post I will explain how you can always start Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer and Opera in private browsing mode.

Benefits Of Private Browsing :

  • PRIVACY : Websites you visit in a private window aren't saved in the browser history. Also the history of download files and other queries will not be kept. If you bookmark something that will be saved as usual.
  • SECURITY : All new cookies are deleted after you close all private browsing windows. So even if you forget to sign out of an account after doing your work, you will be automatically signed out when you close the private windows.
  • MULTIPLE SESSIONS WITH SAME WEBSITE : Cookies aren't shared between normal and private windows so you can use the private window to log in to a second account on any website without logging out of the first one. That means you can open up two Gmail/Facebook/other accounts in the same browser one in normal and one in private.

Steps To Always Start Private Browsing in Firefox :

1. Run Firefox, select the option from the menu present in the top left corner of the Firefox .
2. From Option select the Privacy. Now find out History (second one in privacy) and from the drop down menu select Never Remember History. Then click OK to save the changes.

Steps To Always Start Private Browsing in Chrome :

1. Right click on the Chrome and select the Properties. There are two ways to do that either from desktop shortcut or from the task bar shortcut(if using Windows 7/8) as you can see below.

2. The default selected option in Properties will be Shortcut. In Shortcut you will find a field Target Add -incognito (It is a " " then "-" then "incognito") to the end of path contained in Target, as highlighted below. After that click OK.

Steps To Always Start Private Browsing in Opera :

1. Right click on the Opera and select the Properties. You can use desktop shortcut or the task bar shortcut (if using window 7/8).

2. The default selected option in Properties will be Shortcut. In Shortcut you will find a field Target Add -newprivatetab (It is " " then "-" then "newprivatetab" ) to the end of path contained in Target, as highlighted below.

1. Right click on the Internet Explorer and select the Properties. There are two ways to do that either from desktop shortcut or from the task bar shortcut(if using Windows 7/Windows 8) as you can see below.

Solution of compatibility issue faced by Windows 8 users during installing BitTorrent Surf.



Compatibility Issue
For adding the BitTorrent Surf (Beta) extension to the chrome on Windows 8 here's what you need to do:-
  • Switch to desktop mode.
  • Then open Google Chrome Properties by right clicking on the Chrome's icon and select Properties from the options
  • Chrome Properties
  • When the Google Chrome Properties Dialog box appears open the Compatibility Tab
  • In this tab under the compatibility mode section choose Windows 7 as shown below
  • Set Compatibility Mode
  • Then click on OK and then reopen the download link for the chrome users from below and you will see that the extension is now compatible.
  • Compatibility Issue Solved
  • Now you can easily add the extension to your browsers.
